Import bookmarks and links
Updated October 27, 2026
Import links on your shelf reads any pasted text or file that contains web links: a Chrome bookmarks export, a Raindrop.io export, a Session Buddy list, a Markdown list, JSON or a plain list of URLs. The links are saved as one session.
How to import
- Open your shelf and choose Import links at the bottom of the page.
- Paste your links into the box, or press Choose file and pick a file.
- Check the count under the box, then press Import.
Where to get your links from
Chrome or Edge bookmarks
Open the bookmark manager (Ctrl+Shift+O, or Cmd+Shift+O on a Mac), open the menu at the top right and choose Export bookmarks. Import the HTML file it saves.
Raindrop.io
Open your Raindrop settings and export your bookmarks as an HTML or CSV file. Import that file.
Session Buddy
Open a session, choose to copy its tabs as links or Markdown, and paste them into the box.
Toby, Workona, Shiori and others
Export your links if the app offers it, or copy the links from a collection and paste them. Anything that contains web addresses works.
A list you wrote yourself
Put one address on each line. To add a title, write the address, then |, then the title.
What Tab Shelf understands
- HTML bookmark files, with link titles.
- OneTab text:
address | titleon each line. - Markdown links, like
[Title](https://example.com). - JSON files from other tab managers. Tab Shelf reads the link and title fields it finds.
- CSV files and plain text. Tab Shelf picks out every web address, although it may not know the titles.
Only http and https addresses are imported. Repeated links are imported once.
Questions
Does importing change my bookmarks?
No. Tab Shelf only reads the text or file you give it.
Is there a limit on how many links I can import?
Tab Shelf sets no limit. Your browser's storage is the only ceiling.
How is this different from Import backup?
Import backup restores a file made by Tab Shelf's own Export backup, with sessions and Resume Points. Import links reads links from anywhere else.
Give your tabs somewhere to go.
It's free, and your tabs never leave your computer.
